Veteran Resource Expo is back on October 20th at Brooklyn Borough Hall

Resources and Roundtables for Veterans, Families and Caregivers hosted by Veteran Success Resource Group (VSRG)

NEW YORK, NEW YORK (September 29, 2015) –Our Veteran resource expo is back! After the overwhelming success of previous NYC Veteran Resource Expo’s, military pending nonprofit organization Veteran Success Resource Group has partnered with the finest resources for Veterans — free and open to all Veterans, Families and Caregivers — on Tuesday October 20, 2015 at 3PM.

Providing a full range of over 55 event resource partners that focus on providing information and services to ensure professional success and personal wellbeing, these events are uniquely and specifically designed to provide a multitude of resources for Veterans. The event will provide a full resource experience for Veterans in which they have access to the following services in one expo setting:

  • Business Startup and Growth Services
  • Signature Roundtable Discussions with Industry Experts
  • Funding Sources for Veteran Businesses
  • Mentor Business Tables for Matchmaking with Small Businesses
  • Federal, State and City Government Tables for Matchmaking
  • Career and Job Counseling to include Resume Reviews and Job Matching
  • 9/11 GI Bill Schools and Education and Credential Counseling
  • Pension and Disability Benefits Counseling from Veteran Organizations
  • PTSD, TBI and Suicide Prevention Education

In an effort to reach out to even more veterans, military family members and caregivers, one last program in 2015 will be held on October 20 at Brooklyn’s Borough Hall.  With support from the Commander of the Fort Hamilton Garrison (COL Joe Davidson), Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Deputy Borough President Diana Reyna, this capstone Expo event of 2015 will be a welcome prelude to the Veterans Day activities that NY City conducts during the month of November.

VSRG founders, Justin Constantine and Scott Davidson, are both former military officers and as combat veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom have both walked in the same shoes as many of the Expo attendees. The lack of comprehensive support for their post-military needs is what inspired them to initiate this Expo concept. Working with Veterans Advocates such as Rob Piechota- Director of the Brooklyn Small Business Development Center and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce – Justin and Scott are creating a new model for Veteran interdependence and mutual support.  It is the hope of all the organizers of the Veteran Expo that this model can work in NY City, where support for veterans has been a topic of furious debate for the past few years. No city gives a better parade than NY City, but while parades are fun and appreciated, it is meaningful resources that can improve a family’s quality of life and overall transition success.

“We want to give Veterans and their families a ‘full spectrum experience’ of services and support in the critical areas of business, education, employment, housing and health – now and beyond,” says Constantine, an Iraq War Veteran and Wounded Warrior who spearheads many of the business partnerships. Nowhere else will you find corporations such as Verizon, Toyota, AIG, Accenture, Barclays, CBS and First Data joined by educational institutions such as Syracuse University, New York University and the City University of New York, along with an incredible assortment of governmental agencies and military nonprofit organizations.

VSRG’s previous events have made a profound impact on Veterans as well as local and national Veteran Service Organizations.
